The Double D difference, from dispatch to delivery

At Double D Distribution, we’ve worked hard to recruit top-notch drivers and provide a quality working environment for them. Our drivers are the best in the industry at meeting our customers’ challenging and ever-changing needs, from dispatch to delivery.

Our company was founded by driver Mark Droubay, who purchased his first semi-truck, a 1979 Freightliner cab-over, in 1984. He used it to haul mainly gravel and hay. In 1987, he began hauling for Steer Tank Lines, which asked him to handle a load of asphalt oil. From then on, he almost exclusively hauled asphalt oil to hot plants in Salt Lake City.

In 1990, Steer Tank Lines decided to exit the asphalt industry, so Mark went to the hot plants and asked if they would allow him to be their direct asphalt carrier. They agreed, and he traded his 1979 Freightliner in for a 1987 Kenworth T600. In 1992, he was able to purchase a second truck to help keep up with the growing construction industry in Utah.

As asphalt construction in Utah grew, so did Mark’s company. In fact, the company continued to grow until we became the largest asphalt carrier in the state of Utah. Over that time, Mark diversified Double D Distribution to make sure he could always provide work for his employees even when construction wasn’t in season.

Being a quality employer was — and is — a priority for Double D. Today, Double D has 38+ trucks, 80+ trailers, and 40+ employees. Double D specializes in trucking hot liquid asphalt and asphalt emulsions but also hauls: crude oil, flatbed, dry van, refrigerated freight, milk, and heavy equipment.

We know that great drivers deliver great customer service. That’s why we carefully recruit new drivers and offer quality training and safety programs designed to provide a quality worki environment.
