Here at Double D Distribution, we have more than three decades of experience transporting asphalt and pavement mix. Our expert drivers regularly deliver asphalt all across the Rocky Mountain Region from Utah to Colorado and beyond.
If you’re preparing to order a shipment of asphalt for the very first time, you might be under the impression that any company with the right equipment can do the job. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. Transporting asphalt or pavement mixes from the production facility to the job site requires special training and knowledge. Without following certain best practices, the mixture can cool or become corrupted, preventing you from finishing the job.
To ensure our customers always receive their asphalt or pavement mix shipments on time, we focus on three areas, in particular: loading, transporting and unloading.
1.) Best practice for loading asphalt: Minimize heat loss. Liquid asphalt and pavement mix begin cooling right away. To ensure the product we’re transporting stays in the correct form, we take extra care to control its temperature. Usually, we transport these materials in a fully enclosed tanker.
2.) Best practices for transporting asphalt. Once a truck is filled with asphalt or pavement mix, a clock starts ticking. If the clock runs out before the delivery makes it to a job site, the material is wasted and you’re forced to start all over again. To prevent this and other related headaches, we take great care to map out each route. By determining the path with the least amount of traffic, we can ensure your shipment arrives on time, exactly when it’s supposed to.
3.) Best practices for unloading asphalt. When liquid asphalt or pavement mix arrives at a job site, it needs to be unloaded right away. Each of our drivers is trained in quick and effective offloading. They work hand-in-hand with your team members on-site and make sure the load is emptied in a timely fashion.
