The American Trucking Associations has announced that as of July 9, 2016, there will be a new president/CEO to lead the organization.
Chris Spear, a former vice president of government affairs at Hyundai Motor Company, will be taking over the reins from Bill Graves, who is retiring after more than a decade with ATA. Spear has a long history of advocacy for the transportation and trucking industries, and was selected out of a large pool of qualified and distinguished applicants. In addition to his career at Hyundai, he has experience working at Honeywell, serving within the Executive Branch as the Assistant Secretary of Labor, and working with Congress.
The ATA went on record to state that after an exhaustive search, they felt Spear had the leadership experience, vision, and drive to usher the organization into the future. Graves, the outgoing president, stated that he shared the belief that Spear was the right man for the job. Graves will continue to serve as a consultant for the ATA during the remainder of 2016 to help ensure a smooth transition into this incredibly important role.
Spear released a statement declaring his belief that trucking is the backbone of the American economy, and that he is thrilled to have been selected to keep the ATA moving forward in its pursuit of its ambitious and essential goals.
