October proved to be a good month for job growth in the United States. According to a recent report by the Labor Department, the unemployment rate went down across the board. The even better news is that trucking is one of the industries that helped contribute to this positive growth.
In trucking, there was a net gain of 3,000 jobs for the month of October, and the wider transportation industry added 7,500 jobs. While these numbers did fall short of overall projections from Wall Street, the increase in employment within the industry continues to be a good thing for job seekers.
The positive job growth also coincided along with news that factory orders were up overall as well. If this trend continues, it means that jobs will continue to be in demand into the future.
All of this exciting data gives us great pride to go to work everyday in an industry that provides an essential service in America. Without trucking, our economy would grind to a halt, and we wouldn’t be able to obtain the basic goods we use to live our lives. It’s safe to say that trucking is here to stay, and so is Double D Distribution.
