America is facing an invisible enemy. In these challenging times, people all over the country are joining forces and working together to help one another, ease suffering and move forward.
Just as doctors, nurses, physician assistants and respiratory therapists are saving lives, America’s professional truckers are stepping up to the plate and ensuring critical goods arrive at their destinations safely and on time. Without these sacrifices, our grocery store shelves would stay empty and our communities would be even worse off.
With everything going on, we wanted to take this time to celebrate our country’s trucking heroes. Let’s take a closer look at the role they’re playing during this unprecedented crisis.
Keeping groceries stocked. 80% of America’s communities rely solely on trucks for the delivery of necessary goods, most especially food. Every day, millions of trucking professionals hit the road, putting their lives and safety at risk, in an effort to serve towns both small and large over our great nation. From refrigerated goods like eggs, milk, produce and meat to non-perishable items and toiletries, truckers get the products to the people who need them.
Delivering medical supplies. Truckers also play a critically important role in the delivery of medical equipment like N-95 masks, gloves, face shields and other personal protective equipment. Trucking professionals also help deliver critical equipment like ventilators from states on the west coast to hot spots in the east. As the federal government works to ramp up testing, truckers will also play a role in helping America reopen for business.
Repairing roads and highways. Many construction firms have been forced to shut down as a result of the pandemic. Even so, roads and highways develop potholes, cracks and other issues that prevent easy access and drivability. Trucking professionals (including members of our team at Double D) are delivering asphalt and other crucial materials in order to keep our highways open for critical deliveries.
We’re honored that we’re in a position to serve our fellow Americans during these challenging times. We hope things return to normal sooner rather than later, but no matter what happens, we’ll continue our mission of keeping the country running.
